Soros made the claim in response to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's accusation that he was one of several "activists" trying to undermine the European Union by aiding the flow of migrants making their way from the Middle East to parts west.
As previously reported by WND, Orban said of Soros: "His name is perhaps the strongest example of those who support anything that weakens nation states, they support everything that changes the traditional European lifestyle. Soros sent an email to Bloomberg in response, saying his own plan, published by his Open Society Foundation, "uphold[s] European values," compared to Orban's, which "undermine[s] those values."
Soros also wrote, Bloomberg reported: "His plan treats the protection of national borders as the objective and the refugees as an obstacle. Our plan treats the protection of refugees as the objective and national borders as the obstacle."
As Matthew Vadum, senior editor with Capital Research Center, wrote in a piece for FrontPageMag, Soros' statement means he "openly admits his efforts in Europe are aimed at destroying national borders on that continent."
Vadum also said, "Of course, it was Ronald Reagan who said, 'A nation that cannot control its borders is not a nation.' Soros is proving Reagan right."
