Washington College authorities announced the closure of its Maryland campus to allow police unfettered access to search for a student who allegedly brandished a .22-caliber handgun inside his fraternity house.
The student, Jacob Marberger, was suspended after the incident, which occurred a week or so ago, but then made concerning social media posts from his home Sunday and Monday. His parents then called police and reported he had taken a rifle case from their home, and that he appeared to be depressed and upset about school. Since, nobody's seen him, Fox News reported.

College officials said they've not received any direct threats, but shuttered classes Tuesday and Wednesday out of caution, and plan to keep the campus closed indefinitely. School officials also said they've prepared a small shelter for students who were still on campus grounds, unable to travel off site.

The Washington Post reported Marberger is wanted by the Kent County state attorney for possession of a dangerous weapon on school property, possession of a handgun on a person, possession of a firearm by a minor and illegal possession of ammunition. The charges are believed to have all stemmed from the fraternity incident, the Associated Press said.
