It's one thing for me to quit the Republican Party over House Speaker Paul Ryan leaving funding for Planned Parenthood (PP) in the omnibus spending bill. Who cares what I think or do? But, when Pastor Franklin Graham leaves the GOP for the same reason, then maybe there is something more to it.
We saw it coming when the speaker said a month ago that he didn't see any way to defund Planned Parenthood. That made no sense. You just do it, and then you appropriate the $500 million-plus to a real women's health organization; one that does everything PP does except abortion and some other things we are finding out about.
Of course, the president wouldn't have been so giddishly happy, and I suppose that was uppermost in the speaker's mind. With all that has come out lately on PP's unscrupulous activities, to continue to fund them is unconscionable.

Speaker Ryan was quick to denounce Donald Trump saying he (Trump) doesn't speak for Republican values or America's values. What values are those, Mr. Speaker? Obviously, they don't include the preservation of human life. What a huge disappointment you are turning out to be … chip off the old Boehner. Congress can laud you all they want about all that you got in the bill. The American people see it a little differently – and we aren't very happy about it.
