People in power hold their power only because they are obeyed. When people withdraw their obedience, that is, when people withdraw their support from the institutions, the people who control these institutions become powerless. This dynamic is the essence of revolution against an oppressive rogue government.
If an anti-establishment candidate like Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Ben Carson or Rand Paul doesn't win the presidency, odds of a revolution as described increase dramatically. After all, continuation of the status quo in Washington, D.C., is not only intolerable, it's also fiscally impossible.
