(IJReview) Several gun rights groups will be assembling near the University of Texas Austin campus this weekend to take part in a mock mass shooting — one complete with cardboard guns, crisis actors, and fake blood.
The motive behind the theatrics? According to the Austin American-Statesman, the activists want to bring awareness to the need to eliminate gun-free zones in light of deadly events like last week's terrorist attack in San Bernardino, California.
Matthew Short, a spokesman for the gun rights groups Come and Take It Texas and DontComply.com, noted that the fake shooting is intended to promote the freedoms guaranteed to all Americans as part of the Bill of Rights.
