It was an eerie repeat of what happened two months ago. I planned my once-a-month shopping-and-errands day in the city. I had my grocery list prepared and money in my wallet. I gathered my cell phone and purse, strapped on my concealed holster, slipped my .38 under my shirt, and my teenage daughter and I headed out for the day.
It was during the course of this outing that I learned about the horrific massacre in San Bernardino in which 14 people were killed and nearly two dozen wounded.
The media and the left-wingers desperately wanted the shooters to be right-wing Caucasian Christian skinheads with a Bible in one hand and an "assault weapon" in the other. Turns out, to put it mildly, they weren't.

And what was Obama's oh-so-predictable response to this jihadi killing spree? That's right: gun control! The best way to prevent insane gunmen from killing innocent people is to make sure innocent people don't have guns! Whatever happens, law-abiding citizens must not have a way to defend themselves!
Honestly, it's like listening to a wind-up doll repeating the same drivel over and over.
TRENDING: The Capitol attack: Another deceitful, leftist narrative
In the spirit of never letting a crisis go to waste, all the Democratic presidential rivals joined the Greek chorus (defined as "a homogeneous, non-individualized group of performers … who comment with a collective voice on the dramatic action") of calling for gun control:
- Hillary: "I refuse to accept this as normal. We must take action to stop gun violence now," tweeted Clinton.
- O'Malley: "Horrifying news out of #SanBernardinoEnough is enough: it's time to stand up to the @NRA and enact meaningful gun safety laws."
- Sanders: "Mass shootings are becoming an almost-everyday occurrence in this country. This sickening and senseless gun violence must stop."

How's that gun control working in Chicago, an intensely gun-restrictive city? What, you mean people are getting shot? Gasp! How can that be?
Can anyone tell me why more massacres don't occur in, say, firing ranges? Gun stores? Police stations? Sure, in rare instances some idiot will choose those areas to open fire (usually as a means to commit suicide) – but then the shooter is instantly neutralized before he can do much damage. To anyone with half a brain, it's obvious that shooters intent on creating the most havoc do so in gun-free zones.
Most terrorists (foreign and domestic) prefer to attack soft targets because they're cowards. They don't want to risk getting blown away by someone who is capable of firing back. Schools, movie theaters, Christmas parties – what are the chances someone will be packing heat in those arenas?
I read a post that illustrated the absurdity of this notion that removing guns somehow makes society safer: "If gun-free zones were the answer to gun violence, then there would be no need for the Secret Service or the police. Just post 'Gun-Free Zone' signs everywhere, along with 'Crime-Free Zones.' Heck, why stop there? We could have 'Disease-Free Zones' and 'Poverty-Free Zones'! The left's delusion is a sign can stop any behavior they dislike. Their first delusion was believing laws can stop any behavior they dislike, failing to realize criminals do not obey laws. After finding that out, they believed signs would, [without] realizing signs do not deter shootings, but they DO inform killers of where [are] the safest places to shoot people!"
In other words, gun-free zones are about as effective in keep out dangerous people as disease-free zones are in keeping out dangerous diseases. Diseases don't care what the signs say. Neither do felons and terrorists. The only thing "disease-free zones" might do is make the progressives feeeeeel good and increase the likelihood people will get sick because they're not taking precautions and protecting themselves.

For years – decades – the same tired bleating of "gun control" has fallen from the lips of every progressive citizen and politician whenever an incident of (cough) "workplace violence" occurs.
But here's the difference between calls for gun control back then and now: People are getting scared. They're waking up. They understand that America is changing, and not for the good. They're seeing through the insane progressive logic of, "Oh, if only law-abiding people were disarmed, then all crime would cease! The only things criminals and terrorists need are more self-esteem, understanding and heartfelt discussions – then the world would be peaceful!" That line is no longer convincing anyone.
Does anyone, up to and including Obama, really believe that by taking away MY gun, some nutjob terrorist 2,000 miles away won't be able to obtain firearms and pipe bombs (pipe bombs? Do we need a three-day waiting period at Home Depot?) and mow down innocents in Southern California? Of course not.
It's become a cliché, but only because it's true: Gun control isn't about guns, it's about control. Why aren't politicians screaming for more gun control in Chicago? Oh yeah, because it's not working.

How are Americans responding to the recent terrorist attacks in Europe and America? Well, before Wednesday's massacre, Black Friday gun sales were at an all-time high. After the massacre? I confidently predict another huge spike.
America is watching in horror the rapid implosion of Europe, caused in part because Europeans have been deprived of the common-sense ability to defend themselves against violence. People wonder if a similar implosion will happen in America.
With Obama's insane and unhinged immigration policies, things may get tough, but I doubt it will get bad as Europe. Why? Consider this brief comment exchange that took place recently:
"Welcome to France," observed one commenter. "U.S. citizens can shoot back," another replied.

Look, folks, I love peace as much as anyone. All I ever want is to be left alone to live out our lives in tranquility. I don't walk around with a .38 strapped to my chest because I'm looking for opportunities to be violent. I do so to make sure I can return home without harm. My revolver puts a bit more weight into the possibility that I will return home safely, should I meet someone intent on making sure I don't.
If progressives aren't able to impose "disease-free zones" or "poverty-free zones" or other baloney, they sure as shootin' won't be able to impose gun-free zones without people fighting back. Just sayin'.
