Jeb Bush, who's been polling in the low single-digits as he makes his case for the Republican nomination for president, released a rather odd tweet that dryly joked, a la conspiracy theory, front-runner Donald Trump was actually working on the sly with Democrat Hillary Clinton to get her in the White House.

His Twitter message: "Maybe Donald negotiated a deal with his buddy @HillaryCLinton. Continuing this path will put her in the White House."
His tweet came in response to one put out by Trump that spoke of his potential to seek the White House nod via a third-party run. Trump's tweet: "A new poll indicates that 68% of my supporters would vote for me if I departed the GOP & ran as an independent."

Bush's tweet was ostensibly pointing out the fallacies of a third-party run for Trump, suggesting any such situation would ultimately lead to a Clinton presidency. But his message was quickly mocked.
"Trump is beating you like red headed step child you fool. @JebBush," wrote one social media poster. "He is going to beat you next. @HillaryClinton."

Another poster wrote: "Should a Bush even be allowed anywhere near the white house?"
Another: "@JebBush @HillaryClinton Remind me who you are again? Name sounds familiar."
And another: "1 of the MILLIONS of reasons @JebBush you'll ONLY be a visitor @ #WhiteHouse is you don't have the guts to condemn #Trump unambiguously."
Yet one more: "@JebBush ... Coming from the man with the entire GOP establishment and donor class behind him and under 3% support."
