Rep. Andre Carson, one of two Muslims serving in Congress, said he received a death threat just this week – and it's due in part to the atmosphere created by Donald Trump.
"I just received a death threat ... in my own office, and it's largely in part to this toxic environment," said Carson, during an interview on CNN.

He also said the threat has ties to the "demagoguery" created by Trump over his Muslim comments.

"What concerns me is you have the demagoguery taking place from people who are seeking to become president of the United States," he said, the Hill reported. "You have other politicians who are joining the bandwagon and who are fanning the flames of bigotry."

Carson's office referred the threat to the Capitol Police. Aides also said the threat wasn't the first Carson's received, the Hill reported.
At the same time, it's not yet clear if Carson's most recent threat was received after Trump on Monday suggested shutting the border temporarily to Muslims in order to give U.S. intelligence time to catch up to the terror threat to Americans.
