With all the debate about a moratorium on Muslim immigration, the main concern seems to be the threat of jihadist terrorism.
That's understandable.
It's an imminent threat. In fact, it is a brutal present reality.
Anyone who denies it simply has his or her head in the sand – or some other dark place.
No, all Muslims are not terrorist jihadists. But since there are considerably more than 1 billion Muslims in the world and since the percentage of radicalized Islamic jihadists – by deed or in spirit – ranges from 5 percent to 20 percent, it's a crisis that cannot be ignored without the loss of more innocent life in the U.S.
That's just an indisputable fact.
So the question that should be debated is: As a nation, do we care more about the safety and security of our citizens or not hurting the feelings of people who are turned away from immigrating here like so many others who apply every single day. Immigration is not a "right." The U.S. accepts more immigrants than the rest of the family of nations in the world combined, yet we do not accept all of the applicants. In other words, we already "discriminate" for lots of reasons. We are simply under no legal or moral obligation to welcome everyone who wants to come to America.
But there's another reason to consider this policy. It's the long-term threat posed by throwing open to the doors to unchecked Muslim immigration, even subsidized recruitment – which seems to be the current policy under Barack Obama.
It's not just jihadist suicide. It's cultural suicide.
Muslims have a completely different worldview from most Americans. How so?
Slavery
Muslim nations are known to permit slavery. Incredible as that may seem, it's true. There are some 30 million people living in slavery around the world today. Maybe more. Maybe a lot more.
Where do they live?
- Mauritania: One of every 25 people in this West African nation is a slave. Mauritania is 100 percent Islamic.
- India: There are some 1.2 billion people living in India, and an estimated 1 percent are slaves. While 80 percent of the population is Hindu, there are 138 million Muslims, making it one of the largest Muslim populations in the world.
- Pakistan: 1.2 percent of the 170 million population are slaves. Pakistan is 96 percent Muslim.
There's lots of slavery in the rest of the Muslim world today – in Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Sudan, Mali, Niger, Chad, Ghana, Togo, Nigeria and virtually every Islamic-dominated nation. On top of that, ISIS and Boko Haram are actively capturing slaves in their terrorist campaigns.
Subjugation of women
Throughout the Islamic world, women, at best, maintain second-class citizen status. Their testimony in court has less value than a man's, which makes rape trials a sick joke. In some cases, the verdicts inflict more abuse and punishment on the women than their original attackers. Females are often systematic victims of female genital mutilation.
Persecution of non-believers
It's a tragic reality that non-believers have virtually no rights in Islamic-dominated nations. Not surprisingly, it can be hell on earth living under Shariah law for "an infidel." Christians are facing genocide in the Middle East today at the hands of ISIS, which uses as its justification a literal interpretation of the Quran and the model of Muhammad's life. It's Middle East Christians, like my grandparents, we should be throwing open the doors for in America.
I could continue, but I think that's enough to consider for the purposes of my point: Do we really want to import any of this mindset into the U.S.? Why would "liberals," of all people, want to do that? Why would we use "human rights" as an argument to open the doors of America to this kind of twisted, evil worldview?
One other factor we need to consider, though, is demographics.
Islam the fastest-growing religion in the world for two reasons:
- It coerces coverts;
- Muslims have a higher birthrate than Christians and Jews.
Islam is already projected to become the second-largest religion in America in about 30 years – without an additional wave of immigration!
Already in the U.S., Islam is loud in its protestations against what they call "Islamophobia." Remarkably, with all the pain, death and suffering Muslim terrorists have inflicted on this country, there's little actual evidence of much blowback against innocent Muslims. FBI statistics show that hate crimes against Jews are far more prevalent. In fact they show hate crimes against Christians in bigger numbers.
European nations chose the path of allowing Muslims to replace their dwindling populations, and they are regretting it. Some of them, like Norway, are paying Muslims to leave. The U.S. is still paying them to come!
Suppose you contest the simple, undeniable facts I have put before you about the nature of Islam. OK, for the sake of argument, let me make a couple of analogies:
- There are considerably more than 1 billion Chinese people in the world. They are, for the most part, not experienced with freedom. Would they be equipped to assimilate into America in big numbers if China suddenly allowed them to leave? I think not. We couldn't handle a flood of millions of Chinese people – even though a significant majority of them might not be prone to violence and terrorism and they are hardworking people. Our national policy should be to foster freedom in countries that don't have it so we don't have to pay that price.
- Likewise, there are close to 1 billion Hindus in the world. They, too, are mostly peaceful, hardworking people. But could the U.S. maintain its cultural identity and its liberty by taking in millions of them? I think not.
If we follow our current course with Islamic immigration, the U.S. is making an active decision to accept the inevitable murders of an untold number of innocent Americans, like we saw in San Bernardino, Fort Hood, New York and Boston in the short run and committing cultural suicide for the rest of us in the long run.
