Eleven children and one woman taken hostage at a Rite4Us Inn & Suites in Decatur, Georgia, have been freed after the male suspect, who kept police at bay for hours, stabbed himself.
DeKalb County Police Major Tonya Dedrick said in WHNT News the incident, which started about 2 a.m., stemmed from a domestic dispute and escalated when the man holed himself up inside the woman's hotel room.

Members of Georgia SWAT stormed the room, and the man, in desperation, stabbed himself in the neck, Fox News reported.

WHNT News reported all the children, aged 3 months to 17 years old, as well as the woman, were able to escape the room in safe condition. The man, who's not yet been named, was taken to a nearby hospital.
