Joseph,
Your column on Trump and California is insightful. I think you are right.
The California liberal is not the same as the East Coast liberal. There is a lot more belief in California that the "Bush family" is the "blood for oil corportists" and that "they" control "the corporations" along with the illuminati for world control. Democrats are seen as some kind of little-guys firewall against "the racists" who want to "crush the little guy with the new world order."

The more Trump destroys Bush and causes the RNC to scream, while at the same time attracting minority support, the more California will swing toward him. If he can show Hillary as a slave to the New World Order, a bought-and-paid-for corporatist lackey, and himself as a screw-you-independent, unbeholden to the ranks of NWO, he gains quickly.
You are right about "celebrity." In the California view, "celebrity" is equated with "success."

When they think of "making it big," they think in terms of being famous, on TV or film, as all being part of financial success.
California is increasingly about the Asian and Hispanic minorities, and less about liberal white people. The Asians and Hispanics care about family, family, family and education. For Asians, business is also important. If Trump promotes school competition for excellence, family values over pro-gay stuff pushed on Asian families by Sacramento, and America-first-success in business, he might create a firestorm tidal wave.

The old-line white liberal in California is a shrinking population. The minorities have been brow beaten by the media, told that only Democrats like minorities. To the extent that Trump puts his minority support out front, he takes away the California Democrats' only argument against him.
Great column. Insightful. It will be very interesting to watch.
