(THE HILL) — Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) has asked the communications director for his presidential campaign to resign after he distributed a story that portrayed GOP presidential rival Marco Rubio as dismissing the Bible.
Cruz fired Rick Tyler following days in which Cruz has been dogged for his campaign tactics by Rubio and two other GOP presidential candidates, Donald Trump and Ben Carson. The attacks may be hurting Cruz, who had a disappointing finish in South Carolina's primary.
"I have made clear in this campaign that we will conduct this campaign with the very highest standards of integrity," Cruz said during a press conference.
