I just finished reading this article and I find it to be quite excellent ["Ted Cruz: If Christians vote, race would be over"].
May I add one thing? As a young man, a United States Marine, a Baptist minister, a teacher/cchool administrator, one thing that I well remember is that President Reagan did not use the "politically correct" terms such as African-American, Hispanic-American, or Asian-American. We are not hyphenated; we are Americans, and that is the proudest title we can be referred to as.
I have not direct access to Ted Cruz or the other candidates, but perhaps with your greater reach you could pass that advise along. We are American first. If one wishes, then certainly, refer to yourself as an American of African descent, but say that in my presence and expect me to ask you from what tribe you hail.

We are Americans. Kindly pass that along.
