Seoul (CNN)South Korea says it is suspending operations at an industrial complex run in cooperation with North Korea, in retaliation for a recent rocket launch and nuclear test by Pyongyang.
The announcement was made shortly before Japan also announced fresh sanctions against North Korea for its actions.
The Kaesong Industrial Complex, situated in North Korea just a few kilometers north of the border, was opened in 2004 as part of reconciliation efforts between the two Koreas.
