San Francisco State University has launched an investigation into an incident involving a white student who was threatened on campus for having dreadlocks.

Video of a young man being physically intimidated by a black woman in a stairwell shot to the top of Facebook’s trending news stories on Tuesday. The confrontation, which was uploaded to YouTube on Monday, began over the white man’s alleged “cultural appropriation.”

“You’re saying that I can’t have a hair style because of your culture? Why?” the man asked as the woman blocked his path to a staircase.

“Yeah, because it’s my culture,” the woman replied.

The man told her it is ridiculous that she deemed herself the hairstyle czar for 320 million Americans and then tried to leave. The woman then grabbed his arm and threatened him with violence when he tried to push her away.

“You put your hands on me, you gonna learn,” the woman said.

The woman then placed her hand over a cell phone when a man said he was recording to ensure “everyone’s safety.”

SFSU released a statement on Tuesday after the story went viral.

“We are aware of the video made of an incident which occurred on campus yesterday afternoon. University police were called to the scene of the incident when it occurred. The two individuals involved in the incident are not San Francisco State University employees. Further, no criminal charges have been pressed at this time to the University’s knowledge,” the statement read, KRON-4 reported.

“Surprise, surprise. The ‘black lives are the only lives that matter’ crowd strikes again!” Frank Figla wrote in the station’s comments section on Tuesday.

“Dreadlocks came from Hindu culture, which is 6,000 years older than Egyptian culture. Blacks have no claim to it. This girl is an uneducated fool,” added Danny Puran.
