If a Republican president, in a presidential election year, picked a center-to-right nominee for a Supreme Court vacancy, Harry Reid, were he Senate majority leader, would assuredly not allow confirmation hearings.
If Senate Republicans cave to Obama (again) and break a long-standing tradition (and the Biden rule) of waiting for a new president to make the selection, they'll push the anger level of U.S. Republicans and independents to beyond the boiling point of molten steel. Anti-American Barack Obama has already placed Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor – beholden to perverse left-wing ideology, not the Constitution – on the Supreme Court.
Establishment Republicans either don't understand or don't care that they have failed, betrayed and infuriated their constituencies (and the nation) not just once but repeatedly. They just don't get it that we want an opposition party that fights Democrats tooth and nail, not spineless mush who offer no palpable resistance.
