The Republican National Committee has kicked off a concerted effort to stop President Obama from pushing through his Supreme Court nominee, joining forces with an outside conservative group, America Rising Squared, to stop the process.
RNC chief Reince Priebus said the effort's historical.

"[It's] the most comprehensive judicial response effort in our party's history," he said, the Hill reported. "We're going to hold everyone accountable and make sure Democrats have to answer to the American people for why they don't want voters to have a say in this process."

Obama's due to put forth a name to replace Justice Antonin Scalia in the coming days. The White House has simultaneously been drafting plans for a winning public relations strategy that counters Republicans who say the lame duck president ought to hold off nominating anyone.

The RNC is now digging in deeper and has tasked members to do background research on nominees, to prepare for a Senate battle.
