(MARKETWATCH) — McDonald’s Corp. said it is testing a Chicken McNuggets recipe in Portland, OR and Southwest Washington that has no artificial preservatives. The trial is part of the fast-food giant’s continuing efforts to create a menu that meets the consumer demand for meals that are healthier and “cleaner,” containing fewer chemical additives.
“More than ever, customers care about where their food comes from and how it is prepared,” said Becca Hary, McDonald’s MCD, +0.60% spokesperson, in a statement sent to MarketWatch.
The test began in early March in about 140 McDonald’s and is being used to gather customer feedback, according to Hary. So far, she says Portland customers have “responded favorably” to the recipe.
