There are a huge number of strange things going on in the race to the White House in 2016. Notwithstanding the fact that the GOP establishment is falling apart at the seams because they have two front-running candidates they intensely dislike, a new narrative is emerging that maybe it would be better if the Republicans lost the White House this time around.
I know it sounds crazy, but if you delve a little deeper into the reasoning of such an idea, it might not be so hard to accept. More and more as Donald Trump seems to be the inevitable nominee, the so-called elites in the GOP are trying to figure out a strategy to deal with him while attempting to hold the party together. I think that the only thing they really care about is not finding a candidate that can actually "win" the election, but just one that can get close enough and garner enough enthusiasm so that they hold the House and Senate. That is their biggest fear – losing seats in Congress.
In their minds, if Trump is the nominee against Hillary, she will win a landslide victory over him, based on the current majority of the polls. They are assuming that he has such an unfavorable rating among Republican voters that they will stay home. Low turnout will thereby make way for Democratic gains in Congress.

But that is only an assumption on their part. They don't know for sure that there won't be more excitement for Trump as the race gets down to the final two. Perhaps the Bernie Sanders voters will be so angry over the "rigged" Democratic process and their superdelegates for Hillary that they will stay home as a protest vote. Who knows? It is anyone's guess at this point.
I am picking up snippets of conversations on the news programs about many of the GOP heavy-hitting donors and elites actually saying that Hillary would be better than what the Republican Party has to offer right now. Just the other day billionaire industrialist Charles Koch said on ABC's "This Week" program that Hillary might make a better president than the candidates in the Republican field. He actually believes that her "actions would be quite different than her rhetoric." Interesting. There are others on the "Never Trump" bandwagon that seem to feel the same way.
TRENDING: With a straight face ...
So my question is: Would they really rather lose the presidency to Hillary and keep the elites of both parties in place? Maybe they want to maintain control of Congress but let the leader of the free world and the figurehead of the country remain a Democrat because they can see where the country is headed.
It is obvious that whoever the next president is will be inheriting a complete mess that will be difficult if not impossible to turn around. We will be facing a national debt crisis that is unprecedented. By the time Obama leaves office the national debt will have doubled. Former GOP Sen. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma says that we are $30 trillion in the hole plus another $17 trillion in debt. We are watching Obamacare implode as large health insurers like UnitedHealth are leaving the Obamacare exchange marketplace. Nationwide companies like Blue Cross and Blue Shield are also weighing their options and considering leaving the ACA exchanges. We all saw this coming, and Obama planned it perfectly so that the implosion would occur after he left office. At that point they can use the 9/11 excuse and blame it all on the guy (or gal) who currently sits in office.

Our open borders are a sieve with reports that passageways through Mexico are being mapped out for ISIS terrorists to enter our country. With the massive influx of illegals, we have no idea who these people are or where they are going. The Middle East is in shambles, the European Union is falling apart, and there is violence, fear and instability everywhere. Putting all of that aside, we have a sluggish economy on life support, more people on food stamps and facing poverty, an anemic job market and social and racial unrest being fueled by groups like Black Lives Matter.
It is not a pretty picture, and the next president will have to confront all of these things. If it is Hillary, we can expect things to get progressively worse. If it is a Republican, we can only hope that he has the guts and strength to lead us out of the darkness.
I don't think that the GOP wants the presidency even though they know things will deteriorate even more under a Democrat. They don't want a replay of the Bush years when he was blamed for everything and was demonized over and over again. It would be much easier for them to have Hillary as their piñata, and they will gleefully and consistently beat her up.
No one in our government today looks out for what is best for the people and the country; they only look out for what is best for them. Hillary's prize is moving back into the White House and gathering up more money and power for Bill and her. Do you think she really has a clue about what to do about all of the problems we face? My guess is that she hasn't even given it a thought. Do you think the GOP really wants all of this to come crashing down on their heads if they take the White House? I think they want to give it a good try, but eventually lose; then they can breathe easy again.
We on the conservative side see an avalanche coming, and it is coming fast. No one out there seems to know what to do, and everyone is grasping for any life line they can grab to save our republic. This whole election cycle is like the old child's game of Tag, and the words one of these candidates will hear are: "Tag, you're it"!
