(USA TODAY) Police arrested a 1st Calvary Division soldier Tuesday for his role in the alleged assault of a female member of his unit – an assault that sent her to the emergency room with a concussion, a ruptured ear drum and other injuries, court documents state.

Jacob Avila and another man allegedly assaulted and restrained Pvt. Melissa Centeno during a party Avila hosted over the weekend for members of his unit at his off-base residence, according to an arrest affidavit.

Centeno, who has served with Avila in the Fort Hood, Texas-based 3rd Brigade Combat Team since February, told police that Avila and another man, Lucas Curtis, attacked her after they witnessed her “making out” with another soldier.
