(PALM BEACH POST) — LA CROSSE, Wisconsin — Donald Trump predicted he’ll get lots of votes from Democrats and independents in Wisconsin’s open Republican primary on Tuesday and said a victory here would effectively wrap up the GOP presidential race.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz leads most polls heading into Tuesday’s vote. Cruz and the “Never Trump” movement are hoping Wisconsin can put the brakes on GOP front runner Trump’s momentum.

“If we do well here, folks, it’s over,” Trump told a crowd of several hundred people in this city on the Mississippi River. “If we don’t win here it’s not over. But wouldn’t you like to take the credit?”
