(Wall Street Journal) Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump on Wednesday mocked rival Ted Cruz‘s decision to name a running mate as premature, while boasting of his own strength in the nomination race after his five-state sweep Tuesday night.
"I see they have a new relationship this time, Cruz and Carly," Mr. Trump said at a rally at the state fairgrounds Wednesday. "Cruz can’t win. What’s he doing picking vice presidents?"
Mr. Trump spoke from a stage in the middle of a sports stadium while four giant televisions suspended from the ceiling broadcast in real time a bigger-than-life version of him. The crowd cheered as Mr. Trump reveled in his recent primary victories and derided Mr. Cruz’s decision to pick a running mate so early in the contest.
