It was nearly a year ago that best-selling author and political pundit Ann Coulter was laughed at when she said on TV that Donald Trump had the best chance at winning the 2016 race for president.

And now, with Ted Cruz and John Kasich getting out of the hunt, it looks like Coulter is getting the last laugh.

It was June 19, 2015, when Coulter appeared as a guest on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher.”

Maher asked, “Ann, which Republican candidate has the best chance at winning the general election?”

Coulter’s response: “Of the declared ones? Right now, Donald Trump.”

The audience instantly burst out into laughter and shock.

“I especially like the fake laughter from the audience,” she opined.

Coulter then noted that if undeclared candidates were taken into account, Mitt Romney and Scott Walker would be her winning ticket.

“But last time, you said if we nominate Romney, [Republicans] will definitely lose,” Maher pointed out.

“And I was right,” Coulter responded.

Maher himself proffered some support for Trump, even if it were tongue-in-cheek, saying, “I would do anything for Trump-Christie,” referring to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie as a running mate for the New York billionaire.

Coulter also predicted in the same show that the eventual Republican nominee would have a much easier time beating Hillary Clinton in the general election compared to Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

“If you ran Bernie Sanders, it would be much tougher,” Coulter said.

“Because he cares about the American middle class [and] working class. Hillary doesn’t. She’s like the elected Republicans. She cares about the chamber of commerce.”

On Wednesday, the day that Trump became the last man standing in the race for the 2016 Republican nomination, Coulter penned a column about Trump for WND.

“A guy just won the Republican nomination for president by spending no money, hiring no pollsters, running virtually no TV ads and just saying what he truly believed no matter how many times people told him he couldn’t say that,” she wrote.

“I always hoped I’d see this once before I died. It’s like to going to Mecca, for Americans. Pay attention, because it’s the last time we’re going to see it in our lifetimes.”
