It broke my heart to read a while back that one of my greatest (ex-)heroes, Phyllis Schlafly, actually publicly endorsed the immoral, consistently liberal megamaniacal bully named Donald Trump. It tears me up to see the chaos caused by this formerly solidly conservative woman and what this sellout to Donald has done to her formerly excellent organization, Eagle Forum.
But what is far worse than that is her insistence – now – that immigration is a political, not a moral matter. That somehow gives her license to promote a man who is owner of many casinos with strip clubs, whose current wife is an ex-nude model who if he wins would be America's first "lady," who literally cannot stop insulting, bullying, lying and worse, all the way to the White House.
I cannot believe that Schlafly does not know better, that she could possibly be that biblically illiterate, that she could really not know of everything the Bible has to say about immigration, that it is 100 percent entwined with morality and only happens to be a political matter in a distant, secondary fashion.

In the Old Testament, God once punished a (sinful, unrepentant) nation by removing its borders. In the New Testament, Jesus once spoke of a man who entered a sheepfold other than by the gate, as a symbol of SATAN. Immigration is hopelessly, logically, inextricably tied to morality! Saying that immigration is not a moral issue is as ridiculous as claiming that sex is just a political issue!
How on earth can Schlafly claim otherwise? Trump IS right on borders. But how on earth could she actually think that this somehow gives her the right to support a man who is the polar opposite of everything the Bible tells us would make a good leader?
Et, tu, Phyllis?
