Glenn Beck guest: 'What patriot' will remove Trump from office?

Talk-radio host Glenn Beck has already had at least one visit from the Secret Service this election cycle over perceived threats on the life of GOP front runner Donald Trump made on his show, and he may be in store for another.

During Wednesday's broadcast Beck interviewed best-selling suspense author Brad Thor and the pair discussed their concerns Trump, if elected, would abuse his presidential authority with little chance of being stopped by Congress. Their "hypothetical" solution sounded suspiciously like insurrection, at least, and assassination, in the extreme. It certainly was extra-legal.

"I am about to suggest something very bad," said Thor. "It is a hypothetical I am going to ask as a thriller writer.

"With the feckless, spineless Congress we have, who will stand in the way of Donald Trump overstepping his constitutional authority as president? If Congress won't remove him from office, what patriot will step up and do that if, if, he oversteps his mandate as president, his constitution-mandated authority as president, I should say.

"If he oversteps that, how do we get him out of office? And I don't think there is a legal means available. I think it will be a terrible, terrible position the American people will be in to get Trump out of office, because you won't be able to do it through Congress."

Beck responded, "I would agree with you on that."

Many on Twitter interpreted Thor's comment as a call to assassinate Trump, a charge he denied.

"A) I didn't call for his assassination. B) 'President-elect Trump'? You're not very well informed, are you?" Thor tweeted.

But in March, Thor was predicting "unprecedented assassination attempts" against Trump, then as now, on the Glenn Beck Show.

"I want to right now ask everyone who is listening to pray for the men and women of the Secret Service who are charged with protecting Donald Trump and his family," he told Beck. "May God protect them and may God protect the Trumps."

In early March Beck was visited at his Dallas studios by the Secret Service following a comment made about Trump on his radio show that some interpreted as a "threat."

During the program Beck was discussing the 2016 presidential candidates with his producers, specifically news that the other candidates said they would back Trump if he became the party's nominee.

Beck's comment that he didn't know what he would have done had he been sitting in the shoes of Trump's rivals during Thursday's debate drew a mocking response from producer Stu Burguiere, reported CBS.

"Was it gigantic shoes?"

It was Beck's next response that was construed as a threat against Trump, although Burguiere insists it was directed at himself and not at Trump.

"If I was close enough and I had a knife. Really. I mean the stabbing just wouldn't stop," said Beck.

It was widely reported that Beck had threatened Trump following a story by Daily Caller, which quickly spread across the Internet.

Mediaite, which initially picked up the story, later retracted it.

Burguiere later took to Facebook and posted, "It was reported that Glenn had threatened to stab a presidential candidate this morning which was odd since I was on the show with him and didn't notice anything like that… Of course, if you were listening, you know that Glenn actually threatened me, not Donald Trump, so I am in the odd situation of defending my boss for threatening my life."
