Israeli media are reporting a police investigation has recommended indicting the wife of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over misuse of state funds and inflated household spending.
The prime minister posted on his Facebook page, however, there was no recommendation to bring his wife to trial. He said Mrs. Netanyahu “did not commit any crime.”
According to several Israeli press reports, the police investigation found she used state funds to care for her late father and overbilled for meals.
In the police statement, the police announced the end of their investigation but offered few details. A police spokesman would not comment further.
The Netanyahus, especially Sara, have long faced scrutiny over spending.
