(London Guardian) A man has been charged with the murder of the Labour MP Jo Cox, West Yorkshire police said.
Thomas Mair, a 52-year-old from Birstall, was charged with murder, grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon, the force said in a statement.
Cox was killed on Thursday lunchtime outside Birstall public library, where she had been running a constituency surgery. The 41-year-old MP for Batley and Spen was taken to hospital after being shot several times and stabbed, but was declared dead at 1.48pm.
