New York City’s newest pro-transgender push.

A new New York City ad campaign valued at about $265,000 of taxpayer dollars is aimed at reminding residents and visitors alike: Biology aside, our bathrooms are open to those of either sex.

Called “Look Past Pink and Blue,” the ads tell readers to “use the restroom consistent with who you are,” regardless of birth “gender,” Breitbart reported.

Mayor Bill de Blasio, in a statement announcing the new campaign, said the open-door bathroom policy is basically a right, and that the city was taking the lead in the nation to show proper LGBT regard and respect.

“While other cities and states are legislating intolerance and taking away individuals’ rights to use bathrooms consistent with their gender identity, we are proudly standing with our transgender and gender non-conforming New Yorkers,” he said.

The campaign consists of strategically placed posters and advertising images around the city, including spots on subways, bus stops, and social media, that show models described as transgender in nature.

The ads come even as the city faces significant financial pressure, including a projected $3.8 billion budget shortfall by 2019, according to the city controller’s estimates.
