A few weeks ago, Dr. Ben Carson related his vision of where the U.S. is currently going. He used the analogy of a cruse ship headed over Niagara Falls … it needs to change course before it's too late! It reminded me of the 1972 ocean liner disaster movie, "Poseidon Adventure."
If you recall, the Poseidon was capsized by a rogue wave. Rattled survivors split into two different mindsets or faiths. One group reasoned they should descend toward the deck, now underwater. The others were led by Rev. Scott (Gene Hackman) sporting a clerical collar. Although sounding counterintuitive, Scott convinced his eclectic flock to navigate upward, into to the bottom of the ship, where there would be trapped air pockets. Rescuers would hear them hammering inside the hull and cut a hole – leading to salvation. Rev. Scott proved to be right but had to sacrifice himself, for the greater good, by turning off live steam blocking the escape route. The party headed in the opposite direction bought into a false premise – doomed from the outset!
As you know, the U.S. is at a crucial juncture in time; the stakes are enormous! Like the doomed Poseidon passengers, countless disorientated folks are trundling behind Clinton, headed for the abyss. Like Rev. Scott, Trump's approach is unconventional. It demands the courage to take considerable risks, make wise choices and forge ahead in the face of overwhelming odds. Like Scott, Trump appears to believe that God helps those who help themselves. One thing is clear, The Donald has guts! He just needs a little tweaking from folks like Franklin Graham and others.
