(The Hill) The Democratic National Committee’s (DNC) draft platform tears into Donald Trump and seeks to build a bridge between supporters of Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.
The draft, released Friday afternoon just ahead of the holiday weekend, mentions Trump’s name 35 times in the 35 pages of text.
It hammers the presumptive GOP nominee on his economic plan, his criticism of international alliances, his controversial comments about women and minorities and missteps in his business career.
“The stakes have been high in previous elections,” the platform reads.
“But in 2016, the stakes can be measured in human lives — in the number of immigrants who would be torn from their homes; in the number of faithful and peaceful Muslims who would be barred from even visiting our shores; in the number of allies alienated and dictators courted; in the number of Americans who would lose access to health care and see their rights ripped away.”
