CLEVELAND, Ohio – Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has pledged his support to Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, predicting Trump will beat Hillary Clinton with a sizable majority.

“I give Donald Trump a 60 percent chance of defeating Hillary in November,” Gingrich told WND, handicapping the race in favor of Trump.

Asked whether he would campaign for Trump, Gingrich answered “Yes” in no uncertain terms.

“My support for Donald Trump is strong,” Gingrich affirmed. “I plan to work hard to see him elected president.”

Gingrich also weighed in on the plagiarism claims against Melania Trump in an interview on CNN Wednesday, saying he was “disgusted” with the media. He sized up the controversy with two words: “Who cares?”

“The fact is, Melania gave a good speech. She was stunningly attractive. She’s stunningly articulate,” he said. “Most of the people criticizing her can’t speak five languages. She’s a bright person. She introduced herself in a way that’s attractive.”
