(The Hill) The NRA issued a statement Friday calling the recent death of a Minnesota man after he was shot by police “troubling.”
“The reports from Minnesota are troubling and must be thoroughly investigated,” the statement posted on Twitter reads. “In the meantime, it is important for the NRA not to comment while the investigation is ongoing.”
Though it does not specifically mention it, the statement appears to be addressing the death of Philando Castile in Falcon Heights, Minn., earlier this week. The grisly aftermath of the shooting was caught on video by Castile’s girlfriend, who said that he had told police he was licensed to carry a weapon and was shot while reaching for his wallet.
