(TPM) A Wall Street Journal reporter seemed to be at a loss Thursday following Hillary Clinton’s speech tying Donald Trump to the alt-right, refusing to comment on whether he thought Donald Trump panders to racists.
Immediately following Clinton’s speech in Reno, Nevada, James Grimaldi, an investigative reporter for The Wall Street Journal, appeared on Shepard Smith’s Fox News show. When prompted to give his take on Clinton’s characterizations of Trump, Grimaldi seemed to struggle to come up with any real analysis.
“I think bringing up the Breitbart guy that’s on the campaign, I think it will be interesting to see how he responds to this,” Grimaldi said. “He did try to do a pre-response, I think, but you know, she, I think, is trying to match his very hard-hitting language with something that she considers hard-hitting, but thinks is more documented than maybe some of the attacks he is leveling against her.”
