(TCPALM) — TEQUESTA, Florida — A 23-year-old male suspect is in custody in a double murder after Martin County deputies found him on top of one of two stabbing victims, biting off pieces of his face, said Sheriff William Snyder.
A husband and wife, in their late 40s or early 50s, were stabbed to death about 9:20 p.m. Monday night in the 19000 block of Southeast Kokomo Lane in Tequesta, according to the sheriff. She was in the garage. Her husband was outside on the driveway and the suspect was on top of him as deputies arrived.

It took a number of deputies and a K-9 dog using "as much force as physically possibly" to get the suspect off, Snyder said. The suspect, address unknown, was taken to a Palm Beach hospital for treatment. As of 7 a.m. Tuesday, he had not been jailed in Martin County, according to jail officials. Deputies are looking into whether he gave a false name.
