Donald Trump is such a ridiculous buffoon that he cannot expand his appeal beyond a relatively small number of conspiracy-minded wingnuts.
The fact Trump won the Republican nomination has nothing at all to do with whether he can win the general election. Winning the primary only required him to get a plurality of votes from a small number of conservative activists. In order to win the general election, he has to appeal to a far broader base, and his bizarre, self-destructive behavior on the campaign trail has made that pretty much impossible at this point.
And who the hell is this "establishment" he keeps speaking of? And what on earth makes him think that Trump is not a member of it? The man is a billionaire who has spent his entire career buying off politicians to get what he wants – not to mention the great many rich and powerful funders of the Republican Party; surely they are members of anything that could reasonably be referred to as the establishment. It is just an empty buzzword.
