(TELEGRAPH) A teenage Syrian asylum-seeker arrested in Germany was planning a bomb attack on behalf of Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil), it has emerged.
The 16-year-old, named only as Mohamed J. under German privacy laws, was arrested at a refugee shelter in Cologne on Tuesday.
Police said on Thursday he had been in contact with an Isil handler in the Middle East who told him how to make an explosive device and where to plant it.
