I think there’s something in the air or water that’s making us stupid – or perhaps blind is a better word, or maybe we’re just incredibly gullible.
Then again, maybe we have a suicide complex and want to self-destruct.
Didn’t we see what happened to us on Sept. 11, 2001?
Didn’t we realize that it was the work of enemies of this country who have no fear of dying and are willing to take as many of us as possible along with them?
Islamic terrorists on that fateful day did just that. Consider: In those short minutes, more than 3,000 people were killed, including more than 400 police and firefighters. In addition, four commercial aircraft were destroyed and infrastructure demolished in ways we still find hard to believe.
At the time, President George W. Bush acknowledged the intent was to create chaos and have us give in to fear, but he said, “We are strong.”
Perhaps we were strong then, but something has radically changed since. And we’ve come to the point where we do not recognize an enemy and do not recognize his intent.
While we’re inundated with media reports (I hesitate to call it news) about the candidates and the election, we’re now in the midst of the commemoration of the 15-year anniversary of the attacks by Muslim terrorists on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and the loss of the fourth plane and passengers in Pennsylvania. It’s long been thought that plane was originally destined for the Capitol.
As I write this, I don’t yet know how much of the media coverage of this important news story will tell the truth about what we know and will have the courage to show the pictures of the mayhem.
We’ll probably see the planes hitting the buildings, the people running from the attack site, the wreckage and the reaction of politicians.
But will we see the people jumping from those structures, or will that news censorship continue? At the time, TV refused to air those scenes of horror and that continues even now, to the point that our schools don’t even teach the truth of what happened.
Censorship it was and still is, because we’ve become a population under the thumb of political correctness.
What happened to the brave and proud America we were, that we would allow this to happen and not protest? Despite the magnitude of the 9/11 attacks in New York and Washington, we still allow ourselves to be manipulated.
I remember those days immediately after the attack. I was doing daily talk radio, and the one phrase that seemed to echo throughout the news reports was that the attackers were Muslims but that Islam is a “religion of peace.”
Really? Where did that come from? I’d never heard that before, nor had people with whom I worked. But, suddenly, everyone from the president on down bombarded us with that phrase – and they still do.
I realize now it was (and is) the result of political brainwashing, the result of progressive politics, which wants to cut America down to size and imply that we deserved what was done to us.
I recognize that, but I also wonder if there isn’t the fragrance of treason in the air.
That was then, and this is now. In the interim, we’ve had wars, assassinations, political intrigue and the spread of Islam across Western Europe, changing the face of the countries, their politics and their cultures.
We’ve seen the literal disintegration of our borders to people who want to get into the U.S. either by crossing the border illegally or by people whom we bring in from countries with a history of anti-American beliefs and whom we simply cannot (and don’t) vet for health or security.
In addition, we spend billions to literally dump these people into towns and cities across the country with seemingly no interest in the outcome.
Further, in those years since 9/11, we’ve given Muslims and Islam a deference not given to any other group. Ever hear of a Nazi recognition day or a Japanese recognition day or an Italian recognition day?
But want to build a mosque? Of course. To refuse would be “discriminating.”
Schools and businesses are recognizing Muslim holidays at the same time we’ve eliminated the Christmas and Easter holidays – think “winter break” and “spring break.” Store clerks can’t wish customers “Merry Christmas,” and I know of one school that refuses to allow the colors red and green to be used in the school during the Christmas holidays.
Calendars now post Muslim holidays, and the Post Office now has Islamic holiday stamps.
Give an inch, take a mile.
Currently, a group in New York State is demanding the 9/11 memorial in the town of Owego remove the words “Islamic terrorists” from the marble plaque commemorating 9/11, which says Islamic terrorists carried out the attacks.
Objectors say that those words “encourage hatred toward Muslims.”
Sorry gang, Islamic terrorists did it. I don’t hate all Muslims, but I hate Muslim terrorists, and they’re proliferating like – well, you know what.
Talk about bending over backward to – what? Apologize for what Islamic terrorists did to us, in a sneak attack?
But we do.
Consider: July 2014 was named Muslim American Heritage Month by the Los Angeles City Council
Then, August 2016 was voted by the California Assembly as Muslim Appreciation and Awareness Month.
Organized Muslims in CAIR believe Muslims are “under siege in this election cycle.” CAIR-Sacramento Valley Executive Director Basim Elkarra said Muslims need to be appreciated for their contributions and diversity.
Keep in mind that CAIR assisted the terrorist’s family after the San Bernardino attack and suggested the U.S. was partly to blame for the attack.
What will it take for us to wake up and realize we’re under attack?
We’re in a war, a battle for our national survival. We know who the enemy is – but we refuse to name him, identify him or take the steps to stop his attacks and destroy him before he succeeds in his intent to destroy us, the West, and turn the world into a Muslim caliphate – which is what they want.
I don’t want that, and neither do Americans who care about our country. We need leaders to reflect that and protect us so those 3,000 didn’t die in vain.
