Baby body-parts buyers sued over profits

Two companies that for years bought baby body parts from Planned Parenthood in Orange County now are facing a criminal lawsuit by the district attorney, according to multiple reports.

The companies were identified as DaVinci Biosciences and DV Biologics.

The local baby body-parts trade was highlighted in 2015 in an undercover video shot and released by officials with the Center for Medical Progress.

According to the CMP, prosecutors in Orange County revealed the case is being brought against the companies.

“For eight years, Planned Parenthood supplied aborted baby hearts, lungs, brains, and intestines to DV Biologics, which DV Biologics then resold for profit. In exchange for merely providing access to aborted baby body parts, Planned Parenthood received kickback contributions from DaVinci Biosciences over the course of their eight-year contract,” the CMP said.

“The wheels of justice are beginning to turn against Planned Parenthood and their corrupt business partners in the illicit trade in aborted baby body parts. Planned Parenthood is not above the law, and law enforcement and elected representatives everywhere must now hold Planned Parenthood accountable for their barbaric profiteering off of pregnant women and the body parts of their aborted children.”

Kristan Hawkins, of Students for Life of America, said, “The Orange County, California, district attorney should be commended for suing two of Planned Parenthood’s business partners, DaVinci Biosciences and DV Biologics, for profiting off of the body parts of aborted babies, sold to them by Planned Parenthood. Hopefully this lawsuit is the beginning of the unraveling of the entire for-profit fetal tissue industry, one that Planned Parenthood has played a key role in for years.

“If a California district attorney can file suit for illegally profiting off of baby body parts, there’s no excuse for law enforcement in other parts of the country not to do their jobs and put a stop to this criminal activity,” she said.

CMP originally reported, when the video was released, on a conversation between Jennefer Russo of the Planned Parenthood organization and undercover journalists from CPM.

“Russo confirms that her Planned Parenthood affiliate is currently working with a local biotech company to supply aborted fetal body parts: ‘Yeah, it’s Da Vinci,’ she states. Da Vinci Biosciences, LLC, and its sister company, DV Biologics, LLC, are located in Orange County, CA and have been partnered with the local Planned Parenthood affiliate since 2008. Planned Parenthood Orange & San Bernardino Counties’ 2008 Annual Report lists Da Vinci Biosciences as one of the major financial donors to the abortion group,” CMP reported.

Russo said, “They take the whole specimen.”

Invoices revealed Da Vinci Biosciences charged $350 for fetal liver, $500 for fetal thymus, and $750 for fetal brain.

But CMP said the sale or purchase of human fetal tissue is a federal felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $500,000.”

The local Orange County Register reported the case was brought in Orange County Superior Court and alleges the companies “advertised and sold hundreds of units of fetal tissue and stem cells to research facilities around the world, collecting hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue.”

District Attorney Tony Rackauckas said, the report documented, that the companies treated human parts as commodities.

“This case is not about whether it should be lawful to sell fetal parts or whether fetal tissue research is ethical or legal,” he said in the report. “This lawsuit is aimed at taking the profit out of selling body parts.”

The allegations say the companies made $1.5 million in revenue from the sale of baby body parts.

The report cited an email revealed in the lawsuit, where a worker for the company said items cost “roughly $25 per unit to manufacture, and we are selling from $170.”

WND reported this week that California has worked to make sure such situations don’t develop again.

The reporting, that is, not the sales.

California Gov. Jerry Brown, who benefited from an estimated $150,000 in election support from abortionists at Planned Parenthood, signed a bill that protects the organization from future undercover investigations such as the one in 2015 that exposed its baby body parts trade.

Lila Rose, president of the pro-life Live Action, blasted the state’s move to prevent future revelations such as the Planned Parenthood executive who, while negotiating for higher prices for baby body parts, said, “I want a Lamborghini.”

“We found out … that instead of investigating Planned Parenthood for trafficking in baby body parts, California’s attorney general reportedly worked with Planned Parenthood to write a bill to suppress evidence of future abuses,” she said. “Now, Gov. Brown, whom Planned Parenthood spent over $150,000 to get elected, has signed the bill, which jails journalists and whistleblowers who expose such horrific acts.”

She said it’s “precisely because of such investigative reporting that Planned Parenthood’s CEO was forced to admit to Congress last year that the abortion giant had accepted $60 for each child’s organ it had harvested through abortions.”

“With the help of the California legislature, the attorney general, and the governor, the nation’s largest abortion provider will be able to continue to hide human rights abuses and potentially illegal activity from the very public that funds it. Now that Planned Parenthood was successful in getting this anti-free speech law passed in California, it will only be emboldened to attempt to pass similar bans on press freedom all over the country.”

In the first undercover video released by CMP, Deborah Nucatola of Planned Parenthood commented on crushing babies.

“We’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that, so I’m not gonna crush that part, I’m gonna basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above, and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact,” she said.
