NEW YORK – An email in a new batch of hacked documents released Monday by WikiLeaks shows the concern of some Hillary Clinton’s campaign staffers about the impact her husband’s voluminous sex scandals have on her bid for the White House.
An email to John Podesta – among more than 2,000 released Monday from the account of the Clinton campaign chairman – advised silencing anyone in the campaign who tells media that the former president should be used sparingly because he could be detrimental to Hillary’s run for the White House.
Brent Budowsky, a well-known progressive in Los Angeles who formerly served as legislative assistant to one-time vice presidential candidate Sen. Lloyd Bentsen, wrote the email Jan. 10, 2016.
Budowsky references an unnamed person “close to the Clintons” who had been found telling prominent unnamed members of the media that “WJC’s [William Jefferson Clinton’s] sex life could be damaging to her [Hillary Clinton].”
Budowsky expressed to Podesta his objection.
“I responded that I totally disagree with that, that WJC’s presidency and his personal appeal are huge assets and that I do not believe people who are the closest to the Clintons believe what this person in the media is hearing from somebody.
“I also know that for some times there were people purportedly close to the Clintons pushing the line that the less WJC the better,” Budowsky continued. “Which again I have always strongly disagreed with and still do.”
In the final paragraph, Budowsky urged Podesta to silence the talk.
“My point in this note is that whoever is peddling this crap from somewhere within the Clinton camp is having the effect of encouraging the media to give the issue more prominence,” Budowsky stressed.
“They are hurting both Clintons,” he said. “I always stay out of intra-staff stuff like this, both Clinton’s would be well advised to advise the people in their orbit to shut the hell up about this. Even if I thought Bill Clinton was a liability I would never in a million years write it, or say it to the media, but I think he is a huge asset and I also think some of the people they pay do not perform a service to them.”
WND reported Friday Podesta’s relationship with Russian companies tied to international money-laundering, as revealed in the Panama Papers and other independent investigations.
‘Bill Clinton is a rapist’
The release of the Podesta emails comes the day after the Trump accused Hillary Clinton of “enabling” her husband by attacking his accusers, first in a pre-debate press conference with four accusers and in the debate itself.
Before the debate, Trump spoke to media with a panel of accusers, Paula Jones, Juanita Broaddrick and Kathleen Willey. A fourth woman, Kathy Shelton, joined the panel because the man she accused of raping her in 1975, when she was 12 years old, was defended in court by Hillary Clinton. In an interview 10 years later, Clinton appears to be laughing about getting the plea reduced by suppressing evidence of the defendant’s guilt.
Prior to the Sunday debate, Candice Jackson, author of the 2005 bestselling book “Their Lives: The Women Targeted by the Clinton Machine,” announced the creation of the Their Lives Foundation,” focusing on the attacks by Hillary Clinton on her husband’s victims in her march to the Democratic Party nomination for president.
Meanwhile, showing up increasingly at Clinton campaign rallies is a T-shirt with Bill Clinton’s image designed by veteran campaign consultant Roger Stone, based on the stylized street poster produced for Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign.
Infowars.com has aggressively marketed the shirt, offering a reward of up to $5,000 for anyone who displays the shirt on TV for five seconds or can be heard saying, “Bill Clinton is a rapist.”
Women wearing the T-shirts were seen marching in St. Louis on Sunday before the Washington University debate.
On Oct. 3, in an outdoor spot on 6th Avenue in New York City, a man shouting “Bill Clinton is a rapist” interrupted a broadcast less than 24 hours after Infowar launched its campaign.
