(TCPALM.COM) TALLAHASSEE — Gov. Rick Scott warned residents Thursday of life threatening consequences if they choose not to evacuate before Hurricane Matthew arrives.
“Unfortunately this is going to kill people,” Scott said.
Scott said he called in another 1,000 members of the Florida National Guard, amassing a total 2,500 guard members to help evacuate communities along the Atlantic coast. At least 1.5 million residents will face evacuation as the storm inches closer from the Bahamas at 12 mph. There are another 4,000 guard members on standby, if needed.
