Is the election rigged?

By Joseph Farah

Is there any basis for Donald Trump’s repeated claims that the 2016 election is rigged?

That the question even needs to be asked, answered and defended days before the vote is somewhat astonishing. Let’s look at the facts:

  • Hillary Clinton would likely not even be the nominee of the Democratic Party had the primary campaign been conducted in a legitimate fashion by the Democratic National Committee. The deck was thoroughly stacked against Bernie Sanders by the DNC in cahoots with the Clinton campaign. That is a matter of established fact now as the chairwoman of the DNC, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, was forced to resign following evidence of collusion before the convention was even held. She was succeeded by Donna Brazile who purloined debate questions intended for Hillary from her employer at CNN in a stunning example of conflict of interest by media and the Democratic nominee’s campaign.
  • Thanks to the heroic and enterprising undercover video work of Project Veritas, headed by James O’Keefe, we have learned that the Clinton campaign, the DNC, the White House and several front groups networked together to support a black ops, dirty-tricks program designed to, among other things, incite acts of violence at Trump events, which were then used by the media to discredit the Republican nominee. Money and intelligence flowed freely between the Clinton campaign, the DNC and these front groups and, quite possibly, the White House as well, in violation of the law and Federal Election Commission regulations. As a result of the independent work of Project Veritas on uncovering voter fraud by the Democrats, two high-ranking officials were forced to resign – Robert Creamer and Scott Foval. Foval was national field director of Americans United for Change and Creamer, a convicted felon, the husband of Chicago-area Democratic Rep. Jan Schakowsky and director of Democracy Partners, worked to raise money for the political dirty-tricks campaign on behalf of Clinton and the DNC. Creamer visited the White House during the last eight years a stunning 343 times, raising the specter of White House involvement in Watergate-style “plumber” activities.
  • Meanwhile, the so-called “mainstream media” have, also, consistently operated in pack fashion as little more than an adjunct of the Clinton campaign.
  • Virginia Democratic Gov. Terry McAuliffe, formerly chairman of the Democratic National Committee, from 2001 to 2005, co-chairman of Bill Clinton’s 1996 re-election campaign and chairman of Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign, abused his power in office to attempt to pardon, in sweeping fashion, hundreds of thousands felons in his state and to restore their voting rights in time for the 2016 election. He was thwarted in a state Supreme Court challenge. He later extended the pardons to 13,000 felons in the state.
  • During the 2008 election cycle, the New Black Panthers were video recorded intimidating non-Democratic voters at polling places. U.S. attorneys put together a case for indictment against the group, but U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder dropped the case, prompting his own U.S. attorneys to resign their positions in protest.

I could go on with dozens more examples of the pattern of fraud, corruption and thuggery by Democratic officeholders, apparatchiks and leadership at the highest levels.

Is this unusual behavior by the Democratic Party and its associates? Probably not. But 2016 represents the first time a Republican candidate for president has actually fought back – vocally and forcefully against it.

Meanwhile, the sitting president, Barack Obama, has publicly stated, on many occasions, in a historically unprecedented fashion, that he considers Trump a thoroughly unacceptable option to succeed him – certainly raising the question and possibility that a peaceful transfer of power might not take place in the event of a Trump victory.

Nevertheless, it has been Trump who has been the target of relentless questions about whether he would accept the outcome of the 2016 elections no matter what.

Shouldn’t the question be better directed to those clearly trying to steal the election – the people currently in power?
