German police Sunday were hunting a Muslim “refugee” believed to be associated with ISIS and suspected of planning a terrorist attack on Berlin’s Schönefeld airport.

The suspect was named as Jaber al-Bakr, 22, from Saasaa, near Damascus. He is reported to have arrived in Germany as an asylum seeker last year.

Explosives were found in his apartment. About 500 people were evacuated from the building as bomb-squad officers combed through the apartment.

Three people who had been in contact with Bakr and traveled to meet him from nearby Leipzig were arrested yesterday afternoon.

Officers, who warned that the fugitive could be armed with explosives, issued an international arrest warrant and released pictures of Bakr, asking members of the public for their help.
