In a presidential election season in which just about everything is upside down, a new movement is developing of Latinos – for generations a reliable voting bloc for the Democrats – who are supporting the GOP and its presidential candidate, Donald Trump.
The support comes even though establishment media continues to harp on Trump’s observation in his campaign announcement in 2015 that some of the illegal aliens coming into the U.S. from Latin America are not upstanding citizens.
“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems. … They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists,” he said at the time.
Although that’s where the media reports generally stop, the rest of the quote is, “And some, I assume, are good people.”
But the organizers of the new Latino Christians for Trump say that while their “tradition” is the Democratic Party, they tell WND they have begun “to realize more and more that the values of the Democrat Party were not at all the values that we held dear as Mexican-Americans.”
The group, small but growing, is operating now through a Facebook page that makes connecting and communicating fast and accurate.
In an email interview with WND, spokeswoman Barbara Cueto explained how the Democratic Party literally abandoned her.
“My husband Joe and I were both raised in conservative Hispanic/Mexican-American families. By tradition we identified as Democrats most of our lives. However, when we became born again Christians later in life we began to realize more and more that the values of the Democrat Party were not at all the values that we held dear as Mexican-Americans, particularly those regarding the sanctity of human life and traditional marriage and family.”
She continued: “So, when we began to see the barrage of misinformation and lies being fed consistently to our loved ones and, by extension, to all Latino Americans, by the Democrat-run mainstream media and media sources from Mexico who have no business at all interjecting their politics in our elections, we decided to take a stand; to get the truth of who we are as Latino Americans back out there, and remind our fellow Hispanics that conservative values are the most fundamental part of our culture, as well as our Christianity, and only the Republican platform truly represents those standards.”
She explained that she and her husband produce music and commercials, so they jumped into action, creating a series of messages under the “Latino Christians for Trump” banner.
An example:

They emphasize, she said, the “truth that Republican values are Latino values.”
She said the goal is to reach Hispanics and Latinos, one-third of whom, according to some polls, support Trump, “with the truth that the Democrat platform is anti-Hispanic and anti-minority, wishing to deceive and enslave the poor and uneducated of our people in order to ‘keep us down’ and in need of government assistance.”
Stand aside!
“We, Hispanics, are a proud people. But we’re also very trusting and loyal. Unfortunately, and I’ve seen it in my own family, if the mainstream media says that it’s so, uninformed people believe it. That one fact, coupled with the government benefits that are tied to the Democrats, causes Latinos to vote for the party they feel is looking out for them,” she said.
“And the Democrats have perfected the art of keeping the Hispanic voter locked up in free public housing and on food stamps and WIC, thus insuring their loyalty and their vote. Never mind that Planned Parenthood, the nation’s number one provider of abortions, has placed 80 percent of its abortion clinics disproportionately in minority neighborhoods and 55.4 percent of those abortions are black or Hispanic babies. This begs the question: How can we, as conservative Hispanics, support a political party whose goal is to eliminate even more Latinos from our nation, by pre-natal genocide, through expansion of abortion on demand and abortion up to nine months? In short, our goal is to bring information and truth regarding the belief systems of the two parties.”
She said it’s offensive that the establishment media notion is that “if our skin is brown we had better be Democrats or we’re betraying our race.”
Equally offensive, she explained, is the idea that “amnesty for illegal immigrants is our top priority.”
“This is a narrative based on lies propagated by the main stream media in collusion with the Democrat agenda. My father-in-law served as a Marine in WWII, a brother was killed in the Korean conflict, and another served in Vietnam. We are Americans first! The Democrats refuse to recognize that, according to some statistics, 2/3 of Latino Americans were born here on U.S. soil and are not first generation immigrants. We fully support legal immigration, and oppose illegal immigration, as does Donald Trump and the Republican Party. In point of fact, illegal immigration hurts the Hispanic community most because illegal immigrants reside in Latino enclaves and rob our young people of entry level employment,” he said.
The bigger picture, however, is that the nation is facing the evaporation of religious freedoms, she said.
“Christian Americans should be very concerned about the loss of religious freedom that will be accelerated by a Clinton presidency. If we lose our religious freedoms and the free speech associated with them; if the church is silenced, we will inevitably become a one party dictatorship, which is the true goal of the progressive left,” she warned.
“The church should be terrified of Hillary Clinton’s statement that Christians need to change their ‘religious beliefs and structural biases.’ What biases, we might ask? The biases of our God against sin as stated in His Word?”
“The other major issue we are facing are attacks on our homeland by immigrant Islamic terrorists that the Democrats refuse to properly vet, while maintaining that our borders should be kept open. Living on the U.S.-Mexico border, as we do, we’ve heard first-hand accounts from Border Patrol agents about thwarted Islamic terrorist activity in Juarez, Mexico, including the planning of chemical attacks using weather balloons. We’ve also heard witness accounts of paramilitary units crossing the unfenced desert border between Juarez and El Paso in U.S. residential areas. This activity goes largely unreported and that is the most disturbing fact of all,” she said.
She said the reaction is doubly positive: Many fellow Latino Christian Americans are responding to their message.
And, importantly, there is “vitriol and vulgarities that have been hurled at us by some liberal Hispanics.”
“Sometimes the truth is hard to handle, but we’re dedicated to challenging the decades of liberal deception that has been inflicted upon our people. There will be some Latinos, like the ancient Israelites, who would prefer to return to Egypt and to bondage, but we will press on encouraging Hispanics and Christians of all races to seek the truth, which is the only thing that will keep us free,” she said.
There are other like-minded groups, including a Latinos and Hispanics for Donald Trump on Facebook.
In August, Trump had 31.6 percent of the Latino vote in a Daybreak poll, but he also had 32 percent of the registered Hispanic vote in the Gallup poll.
“If Trump holds these numbers he will gain a larger percent of the Hispanic since 2004.
And that’s with his promise to build a border wall. Mitt Romney gained 21 percent of the Latino vote in the 2012 election. Senator John McCain received 23 percent of the Latino vote in the 2008 election,” the report said.
