Visualize for a moment, a world where football players actually played football, Broadway actors actually performed, and Hollywood actors stuck to the business of the big screen. What a wonderful world that would be!
The trending topic of the weekend is the lecture given to Vice President-elect Mike Pence at the Broadway musical "Hamilton."
Pence attended the show on Friday night where actor Brandon Dixon read a statement addressed to Pence from the stage. It said in part, "We sir, we are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights. … We truly hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and to work on behalf of all of us. All of us."

Donald Trump took to Twitter.
Our wonderful future V.P. Mike Pence was harassed last night at the theater by the cast of Hamilton, cameras blazing. This should not happen!

TRENDING: Who is the Serpent?
The Theater must always be a safe and special place. The cast of Hamilton was very rude last night to a very good man, Mike Pence. Apologize!

I must admit that I love President Elect-Trump's tweets when he hits back at liberals and leftist institutions in a way that no Republican has had the guts to do before.

Pence responded in the totally opposite way, and I love his response just as much as I loved Trump's.
On Fox News Sunday, Pence reported to Chris Wallace that he entered the venue to boos and cheers and at that point, he told his family that is "what freedom sounds like."
Pence said of the lecture from the stage, "I wasn't offended by what was said. I'll leave to others whether that was the appropriate venue to say it."
"I just want to reassure people that what President-elect Donald Trump said on Election Night. He absolutely meant from the bottom of his heart: He is preparing to be the president of all of the people of the United States of America."
The truth is that President-elect Trump never said anything to the contrary, and, therefore, the "Hamilton" actors proved to the entire world in one evening that they have not been paying attention or thinking critically. They proved their own ignorance live on stage!

The most offensive part to me isn't just that they did lecture Vice President-elect Pence, but that they presume that their typical audience must all agree with them. That isn't true, and for them to assume that I agree with them may be the biggest bigotry we are seeing today.
The idea being pushed by pundits and celebrity leftists on social media is that the people who are tweeting #BoycottHamilton are people who were never going to see the production anyway. They envision these tweeters sitting on their farms in rural America with their pitchforks propped in the corner and their white hoods hanging next to the back door. They are so out of touch.
I worked my way through college on a theater scholarship. Stage acting was one of the favorite parts of my academic experience and a huge part of my life still today.

I spend much of my work life in New York City, and always try to make it to a musical while I am there. My favorite play on Broadway is "Les Miserables," and I have gone many times on my adventures in New York City. Afterward, I meet friends at my favorite theater hangout, Joe Allen.
The "Hamilton" musical was absolutely on my to-do list. I would have seen it this year, to be sure. I am very disappointed that the cast of "Hamilton" decided to speak against the president and vice president for whom I have worked for the past year-and-a-half of my life, and I will definitely be boycotting "Hamilton" as I tweeted last night:
.@BrandonVDixon shut up and sing. #boycottHamilton & thank u 4 standing 4 #freedom @realDonaldTrump @mike_pence! #maga #draintheswamp!

If you also wish to #BoycottHamilton, but are hoping to see a great musical, there are alternatives. The best play, hands down, on Broadway is "Les Misérables." Or one of my favorite performers, Alfie Boe, is currently starring in "Peter Pan." I am sure he might not agree with my view of politics, but at least he probably won't be lecturing our vice president if he shows up in the audience.

See one of those instead of "Hamilton." Maybe the cast will indeed decide to cut the bigotry, and shut up and sing.
