(THE HILL) — They were supposed to be destroyed, but copies of Newsweek featuring a beaming Hillary Clinton under the headline “Madam President” are being hawked online for as much as $10,000.
The magazine produced copies of both a Clinton cover and one with President-elect -Donald Trump ahead of the election. But, according to CNN, only the Clinton versions of the commemorative special editions actually went to press ahead of Election Day.
Topix Media Lab, which produced the $10.99 special edition mags under the Newsweek brand, “made a business decision to print the Clinton version ahead of time given that she is almost universally favored to win the election” according to CNN. The cable network reported earlier this month, “If Trump wins, the Clinton copies will be trashed and the Trump version will be rushed to the printing presses — a simple business calculation.”
