There are many politicians and many in the mainstream press that claim that they believe in the First Amendment to the Constitution. That amendment protects the right of religiosity and religious worship, the right to free speech and freedom of the press, assembly, conscience and the right to petition government.
Over a period of time, these entities have proven by their actions that their support is totally false. It has been members of the press and politicians in both political parties that have shown hostility toward the Bill of Rights, particularly the First Amendment. The mainstream press has shown this hostility whenever there are people supporting causes and interests they are opposed to. They have shown hostility when individuals have put forth speech critical of political candidates 60 days before an election as guaranteed in Citizens United.
Recently, the Los Angeles Times apologized for allowing letters to the editor that defended internment camps in the 1940s. Their own readers! The press and politicians have been attacking so-called "fake news" that was nothing more than news items critical of 2016 Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. Finally, it is mainstream editors, news producers and news CEOs and assistant editors and producers that have gone out of the way to define who is and who is not a journalist. Talk about the height of arrogance.

The Constitution was signed and enacted by the Founding Fathers to be a restraint on government. Politicians and the mainstream press have crossed the line all to control the flow of information, therefore trying to create a monopoly. Is it any wonder why these politicians and the press have low approval ratings among the American people? That they are viewed by them as one step below used car dealers?
With the advent of the Internet, cable, satellite and more technology underway, people are seeing through them; therefore they are losing control. You would think that these people would wise up and clean up their acts, but they will not. For to them, the people are always wrong and they are right.
