(PORTLAND PRESS HERALD) — AUGUSTA — Maine’s Electoral College electors have cast their votes — twice. Democrat David Bright voted for Bernie Sanders, not Hillary Clinton, on the first ballot. After a break, ballots were redistributed and Bright voted for Clinton. The final tally was three votes for Clinton, one for Donald Trump.
Outside the State House, more than 300 people converged in bitterly cold weather early Monday afternoon as Maine’s four Electoral College voters prepared to cast their ballots for U.S. president.
The crowd included protesters who opposed the selection of Republican Donald Trump, as well as supporters of the Republican president-elect, who captured one of Maine’s four electoral votes.
