Barack Obama prepares for the end of his presidency – last statements, last speeches, last dinners and entertaining and, of course, the last holiday card with no mention of the holiday involved.
No surprise. Why should he change his habits now? Barack does what he wants, when he wants and how he wants, and the rest of us be damned.
The Obama family proceeds with their plans, and one thing they will not miss is their annual taxpayer supported vacation in Hawaii. Obama, the wife and kids and mom-in-law are already there soaking up the sun and apparently not giving much thought to the political horrors in the world that they left behind.
Despite the lavish lifestyle they lead on the public dole, Michelle had time before the trip to tape an interview with Oprah. It’s her last interview in the White House, and she used the time to lament that all in our life is not as it seems and that Americans are “feeling what not having hope feels like.”
It must be a wonderful feeling for the losing side in an election to know why the other side won and that those victors feel hopeless.
Not surprisingly, we haven’t seen any cues of sadness from the Trump Tower. No surprise. They won the election and what we get from there is “full steam ahead!” It’s business as usual as Donald Trump and his team are filling all the open slots in the new administration.
The only long faces are those of mainstream Republicans who are out of sorts because they aren’t getting everything they want. Then again, according to dyed-in-the-wool Trumpsters, they’re getting too much of what they want and hate the fact that they can’t control what Donald Trump does and says. It just goes to show you that you can’t make everyone happy, even when you win!
Barack and his clan are still seething that Hillary lost and are venting to no end about the Russians and that they hacked our election and also that the attacks in Syria need to stop.
We’re told in nauseating detail how Barack took Vladimir Putin aside, the last time they were together, and laid it out on the line. He said war has serious consequences and that Putin needs to “Cut it out!” because if he doesn’t, “We can do stuff to you!”
Whew – those exquisitely worded presidential threats must have had Vladimir shaking in his Russian boots.
Obama pretends to be a tough guy when, in fact, he’s a weenie. Unfortunately for us and our allies, the rest of the world knows it.
A perfect example of this is the genocidal massacre of Christians in Syria. The city of Aleppo is being systemically being destroyed, and innocent civilians are attacked as they’re trying to escape the mayhem. More than a half-million civilians have been killed, millions of others displaced and terrorists dispersed throughout Europe.
Obama’s reaction to all this, other than his “warning” to Putin, was essentially nothing. The State Department issued a statement that the United States condemns what’s taking place – a statement that carries as much strength as Pope Francis speaking out against this continuation of “brutal terrorist attacks.”
Keep in mind that these are attacks are bombing, burning and destroying the city as millions of Christians are starving and dying, and those who survive are running for their lives and being attacked in the process.
What does the president of the United States do?
Obama virtually ignores the situation and had his State Department issue an innocuous statement while he and the family haul out for the islands.
But just before they left, there was another terrorist obscenity against Christians – this time the bombing of a Coptic Cathedral, St. Mark’s, in Cairo.
People were gathering for Mass to begin, when a terrorist device set off a TNT bomb that blasted an area of the church filled with women and children. Security footage shows an ISIS suicide bomber walking into the building and then the bomb going off.
Twenty-six people were killed – six children and 19 adults, mostly women. Forty-nine people were wounded.
Rescuers said the interior of the church was decimated and the area filled with blood and body parts.
Social media served the terrorists as a way to cheer the “success” of the attack. One wrote, “God bless the person who did this.”
The silence from America media was, as usual, deafening. So was reaction from the White House, which issued another innocuous statement condemning the attack, lamenting the deaths and hoping for the “speedy recovery” of the injured.
It continued, saying the U.S. will continue to work with its partners to defeat such terrorist acts and is committed to Egypt’s security.
What exactly does that mean? Who knows?
It was, and is, shameful how Obama and his minions manage to ignore the genocide being perpetrated against Christians in the Middle East.
Pope Francis repeated essentially what he said about Aleppo – condemning the terrorist attack and saying he is praying for the dead and injured.
Not a word about the deliberate attacks against Christians.
I have an Egyptian friend, who the next day asked me if I’d heard about the bombing. I had – from the Internet. He said he was on the Internet all the night before, watching in real time the horror and mayhem.
He has family and friends there, and they all believe this is the beginning of a series of ISIS anti-Christian attacks because they know the West, namely the U.S., will do nothing.
He said ISIS sees it as a “free pass to kill.”
He’s probably right. Remember, the goal is to eliminate Christians and Christianity and create a worldwide Islamic caliphate. Europe is in the throes of these changes. Given what ISIS has done to churches and ancient remnants of early Christian culture, one can only imagine the terror and destruction that will be unlashed on Rome, Paris, London and all of Europe if they succeed.
After that? Us. The U.S.A. By the time that attempt happens, Barack Obama will be somewhere safe in his own protected world, telling himself that none of the chaos was his responsibility.
With Obama, nothing bad is ever his fault.
Must be nice.
Merry Christmas Obama.
Heaven help you on Judgment Day.
