(FOX 28) Toppled tombstones, mangled monuments, shattered stained-glass windows are some of the remnants of the destruction as vandals have hit a south Columbus cemetery 12 times in the past 14 months.
Debbie Smith visits her son's grave weekly at Green Lawn Cemetery since he passed away in 2011. Her son’s tombstone wasn’t vandalized in particular, but she says it’s unsettling knowing that vandalism is happening at all.
“I just can’t believe anyone would come into a cemetery and destroy anything just for the fun of it. It's just terrible,” she commented. “Why would they come in and knock down all of these beautiful monuments? It’s sad.”
