Kim Jong-un is unstable and dangerous. North Korea poses a serious threat to America, and even more so to our friends in South Korea. The North Koreans are a menace to this world and must have their nuclear rug pulled out from them, but up till now they have been Trump bait. And snap – the president has been caught, and America is hung out to dry.
For months as tensions have soared between North Korea and the United States, Trump has courted China and Russia for help. They played the part. They drew us in, made us cross the line, and then showed their true colors. They want supremacy and just need America’s rent money. American leadership stuck their necks out too far. We showed our cards too soon. We need Russia and China to end the Kim problem, but it appears we aren’t needed.
Slapping the U.S., the former “world’s only superpower,” in the face on our national birthday, our pretend allies, Vladmir Putin and Xi Jinping, walked out of the Kremlin as the adults in the room. Only moments after President Trump clotheslined CNN on Twitter and then mocked Kim’s successful ICBM test, the adult leaders at the Kremlin scolded the United States, calling for a plan to deescalate the tension between North Korea and the U.S.
Like how the world has treated Israel and the Palestinians, as school-age kids by pulling them into “peace talks” over the years, the world’s principals just called President Trump into the office, as if he’d been chewing bubble gum and stuck it under his desk.
This de-escalation plan will work. As Americans we should be glad; we aren’t going to lose our sons and daughters on North Korean soil as they end the apocalyptic visions of a madman, but in the process, we no longer are the team captain at recess. This announcement was a well-played international coup. Through Obama’s appeasement and our isolationist swing, we do not have the international respect Russia and China now do. Japan and the Philippines will side with Russia and China; they have already shown signs. South Korea is going to be forced to hide under the wing of the adults rather than America. Unfortunately, we have no worthwhile partners as we have been carrying our NATO partners on our backs, and the only nation pulling its weight, Turkey, is now busy transitioning into the old Ottoman Empire.
The July Fourth announcement by China and Russia is big. Trump has no other option but to say “yes sir” and let us save our ammo for a war in the Middle East.
